An earlier type, hilt with large clamshell guards with incised borders retained by four screws and long, straight quillons. Retains its copper wire-wrapped grip with steel braces. The long, broad blade finely waved for its entire length, an especially popular form in the New World, particularly in Mexico and the Caribbean and marked VIVA EL REY DE PORTUGAL. Worn. Overall length 101.3cm./ 39 7/8 inches. Condition III
