Description
An earlier type, hilt with large clamshell guards with incised borders retained by four screws and long, straight quillons. Retains its leather-covered wooden grip with brass triple twist brass wire wrap. The exceptionally long, broad blade with double fullers at either forte inscribed, NO ME SAQUES SIN RAZON NO ME EMBAINES SIN HONOR (Do not draw me without reason, do not sheathe me without honor) and struck at the forte with the maker?s mark of a T and O within a crowned shield. C. 1728. Grip and blade worn. Overall length 110.5cm./ 43 ? inches. Condition III
