Description
A rare example, the crescent blade and hook with characteristic profiling, and long quadrangular spike expanding at the socket, struck with a maker’s mark and clusters of piercings. The head retained to the original square-section oak haft by four inletted straps, two integral to the head. Second half of the 16th century. Period repair to one strap, haft with slight warp. Overall length 248cm. Condition II
