Description
Georgian work, an especially large example. The grips carved of horn, the tangband and steel bosses with scalloped borders inlaid overall with silver. The robust, double-edged blade tapering at the tip, finely wrought with paired fullers and struck with two maker’s marks. In its leather-covered wooden scabbard with iron suspension band and chape inlaid with solver vinework en suite with the hilt. Mid-19th century. Leather repaired near the tip. Overall length 59.7 cm.
