Description
An earlier than average example, the grip carved of a single large section of rhino horn with characteristic crested and hooked pommel. The guard with expanded quillon terminals, the lightly-curved, single-edged and fullered blade European blade with radiused tip, struck at the forte with a maker’s mark. In its leather-covered wooden scabbard with remains of suspension belt and engraved brass tip. Early 19th century. Worn. Overall length 97 cm. Condition III
