Description
Qajar Dynasty, an exceptionally large example. The waisted walrus grip finely carved overall with mythological Persian kings and courtesans, all in traditional dress, bordered by flowering vines and inscribed NASR MIN ALLAH WU FATH QARIB (Conquest from Allah and victory nigh!) The curved, double-edged blade forged of fine Persian black wootz steel, with chiseled panels at either side of the forte enriched with flowering vines in gold, and strong central rib. In its velvet-covered scabbard. Early 19th century. Wear to scabbard. Overall length 41 cm. Condition II
