Description
The hilt wrought entirely of silver, with fingerstalls and elaborately engraved overall with intricate spiral vinework. The fine, robust Persian single-edged blade of lenticular section with moderate curvature, and wrought of superior Persian Kara Taban black wootz in the rare ladder pattern. Inscribed in Persian in an elaborate gold-inlaid cartouche at the right forte. In its silk velvet-covered wooden scabbard. Mid- 18th century. Overall length 93.8 cm. Condition II
