Description
A cavalry officer’s sword, the shallow cup with modified concave edges incised with line borders and attached to the pas d’ane with screws. The guard with central bead and long quillons terminating in button finials, the pommel of flattened spherical form with pierced baluster and flared base. The wooden grip retains its original complex copper wire wrap, with brass ferrules intact. The massive blade with long ricasso, flanked by a pair of narrow fullers and hollowground central panel, developing into a flattened hexagon with yapered point, and retaining considerable original edge. Late 18th-early 19th century. Overall length107cm. Condition II
