Description
A superior example, with elephant grips, the tangband and recurved guard wrought of silver, the guard finely embellished in floral motifs in relief. The blade of characteristic form, broad with shallow fuller and pronounced yelman, or back edge, wrought of the finest Persian black wootz in the well-known Ladder Pattern and signed at the right forte, SHAH O VELAYAT (Shah and Guardian) ASSAD ISFAHANI. In its velvet-covered wooden scabbard mounted in embossed and engraved silver en suite with the hilt. Overall length 94.4 cm. Latter 18th century. Condition II
