An exceptional example of the type, forged entirely of steel. The superbly-embossed gauntlet with chiseled foliate and geometrical panels enclosing mythological yali beasts. With chiseled steel wrist strap, the grip with original covering. Retains its original padded velvet lining. The robust blade straight, double-edged and finely fullered. First half of the 17th century. Overall length 131.2 cm. Condition II
