Description

A scarce piece of armor designed for use on the left arm, used to hold the reins while the right wielded weapons in battle. Of characteristic form, wrought of steel with rolled terminal, the wrist and hand of flexible lames, the knuckle plate reinforced with a raised rib. Retains its hinged thumb-plate. Traces of leather lining to the cuff. First half of the 17th century.
