Description
A rare type, the walrus grips of characteristic form with profiled median rib, set with elaborately filigreed silver bosses and tangband, the straight, double-edged blade tapering acutely to an armor-piercing tip with chiseled central panel showing fine Persian black wootz. The wooden scabbard pierced, embossed and chased silver in Ottoman baroque motifs, the locket with filigreed silver bands. First half of the 18th century. Overall 48.7 cm. Condition II
