Massive and heavy, circular, of conical cross-section, displaying a mastery of the art of casting. Replete with neoclassical subjects including stands of arms, fabulous beasts locked in combat, the goddess Justitia, interspersed between complex coats of arms beneath the motto: POST NUBILA PHEBUS (sic) (AFTER CLOUDS, THE SUN) beneath a sun in splendor. With roped border, and integral maker’s mark to the reverse. Mid-19th century. Light wear and patina overall. Diameter 62.4 cm. Condition II
