The elegant hilt elaborately overlaid entirely in gold, the name of the owner inscribed on the underside of the pommel executed in Devanagari characters. The blade well-forged of dramatically-patterned black wootz steel, with prominent fuller and back edge. In its leather-covered wooden scabbard with velvet throat. Mid-18th century. Light wear. Overall length 94.3cm. Condition II
