Likely Maguindanao work, the elaborately-worked junggayan hilt typically carried by a datu or noble, with elephant kakatua-form pommel and silver mounts in bands of fine filigree. Engraved silver baca-bacas retain the substantial blade forged with a separate ganja and showing evidence of a pattern in the steel. In its carved wooden scabbard. Late 19th century. Blade nicked. Overall length 77.5 cm. Condition II
