Handwrought entirely of copper and painstakingly embossed and engraved throughout with Classical motifs, including the victory of Hannibal over Rome in 216 b.c.e. The interlacing border depicting gods and heroes. Second half of the 19th century. Overall height 63 cm. Minor wear. One of a limited number produced in the latter 19th century after the original, belonging to King Henri II of France (r. 1547-1559.) Condition III
