Description
The massive head of typical form, forged of fine, intricately-patterned wootz with silvery
gray contrast, and signed KALB ‘ALI ISFAHANI in gold on the pean. The haft composed of alternating segments of ebony and elephant decorated with bird’s eye talismans in geometrical patterns and tinted red and black, the pommel set with a coral. Early 19th century. Worn, period repair to haft. Overall length 52cm. Condition III
