Description
A rare example, the carved hardwood hilt of characteristic form with bands of silver wire wrap to grip and guard, the single-edged blade straight, broad, and thick, with radiused tip. The initials of the owner and date of acquisition, 1901, scratched into the ferrule and forte. Retains its carved wooden scabbard. Mid 18th-early 19th century. Light wear. Overall length 65.5 cm. Condition II
