Description
The steel hilt of early rapier type, the large, recurved guard with single side ring set with a pierced plate and massive pommel all deeply chiseled overall with Imperial Roman heroes, gods and goddesses, the grip retains its original complex wire wrap and turksheads (lower knot split.)
The long, straight, single-edged blade wrought with multiple fullers and distinct back edge, struck at the right forte with Genoa marks. 17th century. Light wear, side ring with stable crack where it joins the guard. Overall length 109.2 cm.
