Description
With well-carved wooden hilt of typical form, the finely-woven rattan grip intact, the bifurcate pommel retaining some red and black hair tassels. The guard carved with scrolls and rare Arabic inscriptions, ALLAH, ALLAH! and BISMILLAH AL RAHMAN AL RAHIM! (Blessings of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate!) The long, single-edged blade with evidence of layering and edge-hardening, and expanding toward the profiled tip with spikelet. Retains its red silk munsala cloth. Late 19th century. Minor wear. Overall length 93.5 cm. Condition II
