Description
The staghorn grips with chiseled foliate borders, the tangband heavily inlaid in gold, the blade repurposed from a late 16th century Ottoman saber. Wrought of actively-patterned Persian black wootz, and finely inlaid at the right forte with two Qur’anic panels in gold, including BISMALLAH AL RAHMAN AL RAHIM (Blessings of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate!) On the left, a finely-chiseled foliate panel and inlaid in gold, WORK OF MUHAMMAD HASSAN SALU. Mid-19th century. Overall length 30 cm. Condition I
