Description
A rare helmet in the form of a European morion, which was introduced by the Portuguese in 1525. The skull formed of two halves, embellished with elaborate panels which converge at the peak. The gracefully-curved brim of characteristic form with cusped termini and plumeholder affixed to the obverse. Deeply patinated overall. 18th century or later. Minor dents and losses.
