Description
An elegant, restrained example exhibiting superior workmanship, likely made for a Murid serving under Shamyl during the Caucasian Wars (1817-1859.) The dark horn grip with steel bosses, the long, finely-forged blade with characteristic offset fuller and tapering tip, retaining most original blued finish to blade, with lengthy inscription to the center. In its leather-covered scabbard with horn mounts, retaining its pair of horn-handled by-knives. First half of the 19th century. Light wear. Overall length 48.6cm. Condition II
