Description
A diminutive yet serviceable example borne as a talisman by Bektashi dervishes before Janissary troops going into battle. Of characteristic form, with rhino grips and steel guard, the blade of complex form, with miltifullering, piercing and bifurcated tip, and numerous inscriptions, O ALLAH!, O MUHAMMAD! and O ALI! Mid-18th century. Minor wear, repair to pommel. Overall length 46.4cm. Condition III
