Description
Cretan work in the form of a kama, the horn grips inlaid with pewter stars, the ferrule engraved silver. The long, straight double-edged blade bifullered, tapering continuously to an acute tip, etched with a panel of vinework and the date, 1895, and inscribed in Greek, GIVE ME, LORD, STRENGTH I AM NEVER A COWARD! THE ENEMY I SCARE WHEREVER I FIND HIM! In its velvet-covered wooden scabbard with large silver mounts engraved in characteristic Cretan motifs. Dated 1895. Scabbard worn. Overall length 51.9 cm. Condition III
