A high-quality example fitted with a quality East India Company flintlock mechanism marked BRANDER and dated 1801. The hardwood stock of characteristic form with areas of carving, fitted with a fine heirloom Persian damascus steel barrel of considerable length, engraved at breach and inlaid at the swamped muzzle, and retained to the stock by brass bands. With its ramrod and leather sling intact. First quarter of the 19th century. Worn. Overall length 141.4cm. Condition III
