Of characteristic form, the rhino grips with rolled pommel, with engraved silver tangband and guard. The lightly-curved blade single-edged and wrought of actively-patterned wootz, with an inlaid Qur’anic inscription at the right forte reading, VICTORY FROM ALLAH AND CONQUEST NIGH, O, INFORM THE FAITHFUL! In its velvet-covered wooden scabbard with large, silver mounts. Early 19th century. Period repair to guard, grips and blade rubbed. Overall length 95cm. Condition III
