Description
A massive sword with large, pierced steel guard and backstrap, and wooden grip. The blade of exceptional length, forged with a central fuller to either side and terminating in a backedged spear tip. Struck at the left forte, F.S. JUNG above a Jerusalem cross, and 1859 at the right forte.
Dated 1859. Well worn overall. The Austrian M1858 saw use by Confederate cavalry during the American Civil War (1861-1865.) Overall length 107.5cm. Condition IV.
