Description
Of characteristic form, carved from a single section of wood with raised central ridge and bound at each end with rattan. Painted overall in black and red, depicting an aso dragon in the center with wild, staring eyes, lengthy fangs and complex tentacles, surrounded by smaller dragons. The reverse with integral grip. First half of the 20th century. Losses to wood, period repairs to rattan. Overall length 114.5cm. Condition IV
