Description
The elephant grips with rolled pommel, the guard and tangband of silver, studded with large, hand-faceted, rose-colored stones, probably rubies, the largest in fine, massive silver granulation-work settings in the form of stars. The heirloom Persian blade wrought of finely-patterned wootz damascus steel with remains of an engraved signature and baduh, or magic square. In its green shagreen-covered wooden sheath with suspension bands and chape en suite with the hilt. 19th century. Overall length 96.5cm. Condition II
