Description
Early Qajar-era, the helmet deeply embossed and engraved with Qajar suns in splendor amongst angels, with the Throne Verse encircling the brow in silver, surmounted by a demon’s head, with pronounced features and separately applied horns, nasal and topspike, and enriched with extensive gold inlay. The camail of butted rings terminating in a series of 10 points.
The round steel shield with applied brass border and four bosses with scalloped borders,
intricately inlaid in silver around the periphery en suite with the helmet, a central sun in splendor radiating elaborate gold bands containing vinework. Early 19th century. Diameter of shield 45.8cm. Condition II
