Description
Mughal work, the mounts heavily gilded overall and inlaid with over 120 precious colored stones. The heavy blade wrought of fine, actively-patterned black wootz, the bolster and forte heavily overlaid in gold, forming a background in which tigers hunting prey amongst flowering vines appear in negative space. In its silk-velvet covered wooden scabbard with gilded and jeweled mounts en suite with the hilt. Late 19th-early 20th century. Overall length 39.6cm. Condition II
