Description
The hilt composed of a large, hexagonal pommel with central ridge and pair of circular piercings, the large guard combining the quillon and knucklebow, with chamfered edges and recurved terminals, together with a large en suite ring guard, the grip . The straight, double-edged blade tapering slightly from the broad forte, struck with the king’s head mark of Johannes Wundes the Elder of Solingen (1560-1610,) to the rounded tip, sharpened around the periphery and retaining much original edge throughout. Second half of the 16th century. Light wear. Overall length 76.5cm. Condition III
