The massive Udaipur-type steel hilt finely inlaid over its entire surface in gold flowering vine motifs and inscribed on the underside of the pommel in Devanagari, MAHARAJ GARDHARSINHJI 1644 [c.e.] The broad, curved, single-edged blade finely handwrought of dramatically-grained pattern welded steel with paired fullers and a pronounced backedge, struck at the right forte with sickle marks. In its blue velvet-covered wooden scabbard with finely gold-inlaid suspension band and chape en suite with the hilt. Dated 1644. CONDITION I IThis sword is accompanied by a signed document dated March 2003 from former owner, His Highness Durgapratapsinh Sisodia, Maharaj of Pratapgarh, to whom it was presented by the widow of the last nobleman of the Rampura family in the early 1960s, together with further pertinent information regarding the Sisodia Clan.
