Characteristic of Tanjore work, the distinctive guard forged with high central ridge and applied pierced and fretted borders, with fully-modelled tiger’s head finial. The reinforces with profiled edges engraved, retaining the broad, thick, multifullered blade. Latter 16th century or later. Worn, pitted. Overall length 54cm. Condition IV
