Description
A rare example of Armenian work, with elephant grips, the steel bosses with scalloped borders, inlaid overall with gold. The robust, double-edged blade tapering at the tip, wrought with a single offset central fuller and inlaid with gold. In its leather-covered wooden scabbard with iron suspension band and chape inlaid with gold vinework en suite with the blade. Mid-19th century. Gold inlay worn. Overall length 60cm. Condition III
