A large example, the steel hilt entirely covered in elaborate bands of gold inlay in flowering vine motifs, the lanyard ring unscrews to release the pommel, revealing a hidden compartment. The broad, single-edged blade with gold vinework inlay at the fort on either side, forged of finely-patterned damascus wootz steel. In its velvet-covered wooden scabbard. Latter19th century.
