Description
The grip carved of a single section of mottled green hardstone and spangled with rubies set in high-karat gold, the pommel carved as a tiger’s head with ruby eyes set in high-karat gold, and a high-karat gold necklace set with a white stone, possibly a diamond. The bolster and forte of the lightly recurved blade with profiled spine forged of finely-patterned wootz and inlaid with flowering vinework in gold. In its velvet covered wooden scabbard with finely-engraved and gilded mounts. 19th century. Velvet well worn. Overall length 31.5cm. Condition I
