A massive example, the steel hilt of characteristic basket-type wrought of steel with profiled borders and long spike pommel affording a two-handed grip. The long, robust blade with superbly fretted and pierced reinforces, straight, double-edged and spatulate tipped, and forged of the actively-patterned black wootz damascus steel. 18th century. Overall length 102.6cm.
