A massive example of classic form, the hilt of characteristic basket-type wrought of steel, thickly overlaid in silver, the quillon terminals modelled as ram’s heads, with long, wrenched spike pommel and pierced langets. The long blade with elaborate reinforces, fretted and heavily inlaid with gold, straight, double-edged and spatulate tipped, forged of the finest black wootz damascus steel and inscribed, YA ALI. 18th century. Overall length 99.5cm. Condition II
