Description
The elephant grips with characteristic rolled pommel, the robust heavily gilded guard with beaded quillon terminals. Scabbard made at Suwaha (Rajasthan) and so marked, mounts likewise heavily gilt, with pierced and engraved locket and, chape velvet-covered wooden scabbard. The long, broad blade with central fuller. Second quarter of the 19th century. Worn, hilt slightly loose, loss to pommel, velvet worn. Overall length 98.5cm. Condition II
