Description
A taller than average example, carved from a single large section of wood with central ridge, and strengthened with bands of rattan. Painted overall in red and black on a natural ground, depicting an aso dragon in the center with wild, staring eyes, lengthy fangs and complex tentacles. The reverse with a pair of smaller dragons and integral grip. First half of the 20th century. Overall length 152.8cm. Condition II
