Description
A rare example, the steel hilt with trefoil pommel and guard of characteristic form displaying curled quillons with monsterhead terminals and remains of silver inlay. The blade quite long and broad, double-edged and fullered, with etched panels at either side of the forte containing Qur’anic inscriptions and dated 1200 (1785/6 c.e.) snd wrought of Persian wootz. Dated 1785/6. Inlay worn, minor nicks. Overall length 103.2cm. Condition III
