Description
The characteristic hilt of grey jade set with rubies. The fine, deeply-curved blade wrought of dramatically-patterned wootz damascus steel and inlaid in gold with ALLAH! within a Seal of Solomon; on the left side and a cartouche inscribed in gold, THERE IS NO HERO LIKE ‘ALI AND NO SWORD LIKE ZUL FAQAR! together with the date, YEAR 1037 (1627/8 c.e.) In its velvet-covered wooden scabbard with gilt braid. Dated 1627/8. Minor wear, scabbard likely a working life replacement. Overall length 85cm. Condition III
