Description
Dayak work, of characteristic form, with molded muzzle and breach, prominent cascabel, dolphin loops, trunnions and pivot. In its later wooden carriage carved with Iban motifs. Well-patinated. Late 19th c. Such cannon were popular throughout Borneo, where they were used on shipboard, on the rails of longhouses, and as part of the dowry. Overall length 32cm. Condition II
