Description
An exceptional example, probably Visayan work. The broad, handforged blade of characteristic form with engraved vine motifs, the hilt with ferrule and pommel of finely wrought and engraved silver. The grip a single section of dark horn superbly carved in relief, comprising compartments of floral vines. In its tooled and pierced leather scabbard with embossed and engraved silver locket and chape. Late 19th-early 20th c. Overall length 49.5cm. Condition I
