Description
Qajar Dynasty, of exceptional size and quality. The large hilt of characteristic form, carved of dark horn and set with embossed silver bosses. The massive blade straight and double-edged, tapering to a slight armor-piercing tip, with a gold-inlaid cartouche at the forte. In its shagreen- and velvet-covered wooden scabbard with silver mounts embossed and engraved with scenes of Persian kings from Persepolis, with engraved steel chape. Mid-19th century. Minor wear. Overall length 87.3cm. Condition II
