Description
The characteristically-complex hilt elaborately forged with flattened, profiled and dovetailed steel branches and integral thumbring and steel “cat’s head” pommel with raised central button, the ribbed wooden grip with leather wrap. The broad, continuously-tapering, double-edged blade of hexagonal section with traces of engraving. Second half of the 17th century. Pitted overall and cleaned, leather replaced. Overall length 98cm. Condition III
