Description
With faceted, conical steel pommel and wooden grip with original wire wrap and turkshead knots intact, the massive steel guard with raised ecusson and recurved quillons of octagonal section, with brass-capped bud terminals. The robust blade of hexagonal section, with distinct central flat and hollowground faces terminating in an abrupt tip. Mid-16th century. Well worn overall, edges irregularities from sharpening and age-toning with areas of pitting. Overall length 99.9cm. Condition III
