Description
With hilt of characteristic form, the steel pommel an elongated and faceted bulb, the grip with original braided wire wrap and copper turkshead knots, the guard with broad quillons rolled toward the blade, and heavy pas d’ane, with rare integral pierced and profiled locket. The tricorn blade hollowground on each face, with pronounced central ridge to the obverse and thickened tip. Mid-16th century. Worn, areas of minor pitting. The estoc was typically suspended from the saddlebow, and used specifically for armor-piercing. Overall length 135.3cm. Condition III
